Housing, safety and rights

Supporting Women's Safety, Stability and Rights

Safe housing, access to services and being able to understand and exercise one's rights can all influence a woman's wellbeing.

Her Wellness aims to explore person-centred approaches to helping women navigate relevant support, access information and connect with appropriate organisations.

Our longer-term ambition includes developing women-centred responses to housing insecurity and homelessness, alongside appropriate advocacy and partnership services.

Information and support

Advocacy & Rights

Clear information can help you understand your options and feel more confident taking part in decisions about your care.

What advocacy means

Advocacy can help people understand their options, communicate their views, participate in decisions and make their wishes known.

Ways we may be able to help

  • Understanding health and social-care rights.
  • Navigating health and social-care services.
  • Information about NHS complaints routes.
  • Signposting to appropriate independent advocacy providers.
  • Support communicating needs and concerns, within the agreed service remit.

Statutory advocacy: a clear distinction

IMHA, IMCA and Care Act advocacy are distinct services, each with specific legal eligibility and delivery requirements. They are not offered as commissioned services by Her Wellness unless and until the appropriate arrangements are in place.

Planned / partnership areas

Our current remit

We can provide general information and signposting within our agreed remit. Statutory advocacy and NHS complaints advocacy should be described as planned service areas or partnership opportunities unless the required delivery arrangements are confirmed.

How we approach support

  1. Listen

We make space to hear what is happening, at your pace and in your own words.

  2. Clarify

Together, we clarify what matters most and what kind of support would help.

  3. Explore services

We identify relevant services and practical options suited to your needs.

  4. Agree referrals

We explain referral choices and seek your consent before sharing information.

  5. Keep you safe

Where needed, we follow safeguarding and escalation procedures responsibly.
